How to cross-edit idol videos! (Feat. Transition deepening)

Are you editing videos using transition effects? 

I also use various transitions when editing advertising videos!

While editing with GOM Mix 2024, there are a variety of transition templates that can be used in videos, so I came here to introduce them to you. 

I think the perfect task to practice using transitions is idol cross-editing. 

If you look at New Genes Ditto or OMG cross-edited videos these days, there are some interestingly edited parts. 

You can see edits that make the music more exciting by mixing it in a variety of ways. 

Actually, I am also a fan of New Jeans 😀 

'How can they edit like that?'

If you think so, you can do it in GOM Mix 2024. 

I am confident that if you use transitions well, you will not only be good at cross-editing, but you will also be able to make other videos in a variety of ways. 

So today’s post! 

Create an idol cross-editing video using transitions! 

Then shall we get started? 😊 

In order to cross-edit, appropriate cut editing is required first. 

Therefore, it is necessary to secure the original sources of the video to be edited. 

Simply search for the stage video of the idol you are interested in on YouTube and download it using a 4K downloader. 

You can download YouTube videos by adding ss in front of the address bar of the desired YouTube video.

I will edit New Jeans' OMG. 

After creating a ‘new project’ in GOM Mix Max,

Just import the video sources you have collected. 

Then, you can put it in the timeline and start editing. 

The important thing at this time is to match the synchronization (* video and audio playback timing). 

If the synchronization is off, not only the lip movements but also the actions or flow do not overlap with the audio, making it look really unnatural! 

To sync, you just need to match it with the audio waveform.  

For stage videos, usually, you play the MR (Music Recorded) and sync it with the starting point of the audio. 

In the case of stage videos, MR is usually played, so you only need to set the starting point of the sound source. 

If you've synced it, you can proceed with cut editing by selecting the desired cuts. 😊  

If you've edited the sync cut like this, you should now add a transition, right?

I will explain how to add transitions in GOM Mix Max. 

First, select ‘Clip Transition’ and add the desired transition effect. 

If you check the list of transitions, you will see everything from the 'dissolve effect' explained in the previous post to zoom, scroll, and distortion/displacement effects. 

There are a variety of transition effects in GOM Mix 2024! 

Among them, I'm trying to make a gorgeous video using dissolve transitions and zoom transitions! 

First, when applying the dissolve effect, the video smoothly transitions, creating an effect as if the costume has changed in the same scene. 

(Looks a bit fancy, doesn't it?! 😎) 

The zoom effect, as the name suggests, involves applying a zoom effect to the video, creating a transition to the next scene. 

By applying the zoom effect, you can change the screen spectacularly as you can see.

This is all about speed ramping editing.

How do you feel? While watching gorgeous videos, you must have thought, ‘How was that edited?’ Has your curiosity about that been resolved?

In the case of speed ramping, I think it is more about the sensory aspect than the technical aspect.

Therefore, if you develop your senses by referring to other videos, and continue practicing through various video editing programs, you will be able to improve your skills.

I believe that at some point, you will find yourself becoming more adept at double-speed editing.

So I would like to recommend GOM Mix 2024.
