Editing like this is called ‘speed ramping.’ 😊

Speed ramping is possible simply by editing the video at double speed without any work such as inserting special effects or subtitles into the video. 

Even those who are new to video can easily do it.

Before starting full-scale video speed editing in GOM Mix 2024,

First, load the video into the timeline. 

Then, press the cut button on the section you want to edit at video speed,

Just press the button below and set the speed.

When 100% is the standard (*original speed of the video)

Below 100%, the speed decreases, 

And anything over 100% can be seen as increasing speed.

Here's What you need to pay attention to!

If you make a mistake when setting the speed, frame drops may occur. 

Frame drop phenomenon means that the video is interrupted as follows. 

The frame should continue smoothly throughout video playback, but if it stops abruptly like the image above, it will look very unnatural. 

Frames are a bit of a complicated concept, so we will cover them in more detail in the next post. 

Now, let’s try speed ramping editing by referring to the previous content!

All you have to do is apply the theory, so it's not that difficult. 😊

First, load the video you want to speed ramp into the timeline.

Select the section you want to edit at video speed, 

You can adjust the speed using the button below. 

When editing video at double speed for speed ramping editing, you must perform cut editing in advance as explained above.

After that, you can apply effects such as slowing down/fast forwarding the video by setting the video speed. 

The important thing at this time is that you need to cut the video and place the clip in a different location before doing the work. 

If you fast-forward, the length of the clip becomes shorter, and the problem can be solved by removing only the empty part created at that time. 

However, if you slow down, the length of the clip may become longer, which may affect the preceding and following clips. 

If that happens, it may be confusing as to which part I cut and edited and the connection between the videos becomes unclear, right?

Here are a few more tips: Try adding a transition effect to the part where the speed changes. Unlike before, you can create more colorful videos! 😊
